The name Reasat Khaton is a source of great regret and great pride for Bangladesh. Although born in Dhaka, he moved to Germany with his family at the age of 5 from Bangladesh. Growing up in Germany, Reasat dreamed of football. Therefore, he is the first Bangladeshi to play a competitive match for a top level club in Europe.
Reasat has played football at different levels in different countries including Germany, Wales, Philippines, Venezuela in his long career journey. He has always been attracted to Bangladesh. That’s why Riyasat came running twice at the call of red and green.
In 2013, Reasat was called up to the Bangladesh national team for the first time. Later in 2015, he got a second call for an international match with Singapore. The midfielder was called up to the national team twice while in top form. He also trained with Jamal Bhuyan. He was also on the coach’s list of favourites. Despite that, he had to return disappointed twice due to ‘unknown reason.
Reasat is also happy with the new beginning. Riyasat said that ‘It is happy for me to be able to represent Bangladesh everywhere, I would be more happy if I could contribute something in football. It didn’t happen. But now I am focusing on my coaching. Keep praying for me.’
